Thailand LTR Visa Program: Key Updates

The Thai government has introduced significant enhancements to the Long-Term Resident (LTR) Visa Program, aimed at attracting high-value investors, skilled professionals, and global talent. These updates include relaxed income and work experience requirements and an expanded definition of eligible dependents. The changes are designed to position Thailand as a global hub for innovation and economic growth, stimulating both business potential and domestic spending.

Wealthy Pensioners 1. Age: Over 50 years old
2. Passive income:
Option 1: USD 80,000/year
Option 2: USD 40,000/year + Investment in Thailand: Min. USD 250,000

High-Skilled Professionals 1. Must work for a company in targeted industries OR hold a position in targeted expertise areas
2. Personal Income:
Option 1: USD 80,000/year (past 2 years)
Option 2: USD 40,000/year (past 2 years) + Master’s degree in science/technology
No work experience requirement
Expanded to academic professors across all fields
Work-from-Thailand Professionals 1. Employer must be:
– A public company listed on a stock exchange
– A private company with at least 3 years of operation and combined revenue of USD 50 million (past 3 years)

Inclusion of wholly owned subsidiaries
2. Personal Income:
– Option 1: USD 80,000/year (past 2 years)
– Option 2: USD 40,000/year (past 2 years) + Master’s degree, IP ownership, or Series A funding (Min. USD 1 million)

Lower revenue criteria for overseas employers to USD 50 million (past 3 years)
Inclusion of wholly owned subsidiaries
No work experience requirement
Dependents Parents, Spouse and legal dependents and no limit on number of dependents. Expanded to include parents and legal dependents
No limit on the number of dependents*

*For Dependents, the new criteria will be effective upon the Ministry of interior’s announcement later
