Opening a Bank Account with Bangkok Bank

Before visiting any Bangkok Bank branch, Thailand LTR Visa holders are required to notify the LTR Visa Unit at least 4 working days in advance by email. Here are the steps to follow:

  1. Email the LTR Visa Unit at ltr@boi.go.th
  2. Include the following in the email:
    • Preferred Bangkok Bank branch
    • Date and time of your planned visit
    • Required attachments:
      • Copy of passport (all relevant pages)
      • Copy of LTR Visa page
      • Copy of LTR Visa Endorsement Letter
      • Copy of ID card or foreign-issued driver’s license (must be presented in-person)
  1. Once the LTR Visa Unit receives your email, they will coordinate with Bangkok Bank and confirm your appointment.
  2. Visit the chosen branch of Bangkok Bank on your scheduled date with original documents.

Bangkok Bank Services for LTR Visa Holders

  • Savings Account in Thai Baht or Foreign Currency (supports 14 major currencies: USD, EUR, GBP, CNY, JPY, SGD, HKD, AUD, NZD, CHF, CAD, DKK, NOK, SEK)
  • Debit Card
  • Credit Card (requires fixed deposit as collateral)
  • Internet / Mobile Banking (Thai SIM card required)
  • VIP Accident Insurance (PA1)
  • Access to Mutual Fund Investments

Thai LTR Visa holders can open an account at any KBank branch nationwide no advance appointment is needed. Simply visit a branch with the required documentation. Here is the list of the Required Documentations:

  1. Travel Document (any one of the following):
    • Valid Passport
    • Travel Document for Aliens (T.D.)
    • Certificate of Identity (CI)
    • Temporary Passport
  2. Proof of Identity (any one of the following):
    • LTR Visa stamp in passport
    • Official documents issued by Thai government agencies (e.g., Thai driver’s license, house registration)
    • National ID card or driver’s license issued by your home country
  3. LTR Visa Endorsement Document:
    • Official Letter of Endorsement from Thailand BOI or LTR Visa Unit
  4. Thai Address Proof:
    • You must provide a valid Thai address and contact details with supporting documentation (e.g., utility bill, rental contract, lease agreement).
